I'm not talking about "message boards" - I'm talking about unmoderated

There is a similarity between the two and how they function
and what purpose they serve. I was speaking only in a general sense.
And yes, there's a lot of junk out there in newsgroups if you want to
talk about "signal-to-noise ratio," but they're not the only venue
available for one to express his or her thoughts.
If people want to restrict themselves to newsgroups instead of
other platforms that would serve in essence the same purpose, then
they get what they deserve.

Almost all "message boards" ARE, in fact, moderated, or at least capable
of being moderated

The question is to what degree, if any.

the administrator can choose to moderate and/or
appoint moderators, to vet messages before they become visible, and/or
to edit or delete them after the fact.

You're just stating the obvious here; I've been perusing
boards, be they Usenet or whatever else since 1994, and I sure as hell
don't need you or Amy to tell me how they function or what purpose
they serve.

Been there, done that, pal.

Really, dude, you show a complete lack of understanding of the
differences in public communication methods on the internet, and of how
each of them operate beneath the surface. For your own sake, give up
this little Quixotian quest before you hurt yourself.

Oh, give me a break --you have an agenda that is based on your
not liking my attitude, and which therefore dictates that everything I
say must in fact wrong whether it is or not.

As far as I'm concerned, you're the one who's talking out of his arse.
And your so-called 'knowledge' doesn't impress me one bit.
