Re: B5 DVD sets, that "scratched disc" issue

hi all, i mentioned recently that i have finally gotten the chance to
purchase the remaining season sets to complete the series, and i have
finally encountered a bad disc(season 4, disc 4), it was loose in the
packaging and became so scratched that not even my computer's dvd
burner/player can recognize it about 8 minutes into "the exercise of
vital powers"(my tv burner/player skips much more often than this).

i made the purchase from deepdiscount.com after reading more than a
few
messages scattered across the net that they were reliable, but i was
hoping to find if anyone here has had any experience with this issue
with them specifically. in particular, how likely might they be to
allow me to exchange only the defective disc, instead of the entire
box
set, so as to avoid getting a good disc 4 in the next set, but a bad
disc 3, and so on.

I realize that this doesn't help you now, but that's precisely why I
bought B5 Seasons 3 through 5, the B5 movie collection and Crusade,
**locally** ("brick and mortar store"), and **inspected** the entire set
**before** leaving the store, in front of the store employee. I
explained the problem with the hubs and the store personnel in the DVD
section and customer service were always obliging. Sometimes, I and the
store employee, had to use up to three sets to make one complete good
set (sans scratches caused by the cheap, passive, friction-fit, disc
mounting hubs). This is only true of the packaging for B5 Seasons 1
thru 5 and the B5 movie collection, not Crusade (different hub design,
with a "Press" tab) or the individually sold movies (1 disc per DVD
case, different hub design "Press" tab, and different case material).

Thankfully, that's highly unlikely to be a problem with B5:TLT discs
because they'll be in cases like the individually sold movies (1 disc
per DVD case, different hub design "Press" tab, and different case
material).. ;-)

**Never** transport your collection (Season 1 thru 5 and the movie
collection) in the original packaging. Otherwise, you're likely to
scratch your own discs. Put 'em in better cases for that, ones with
"Press" tab hubs and softer plastic, like full width replacement cases
that you can buy (like the one B5:TLT is pictured in). ;-) Even slim
cases (like the SG-1 slimset cases) are better than the B5 S1-S5 and
movie set original packaging.

"Keen Eddie" (2004)
Fiona: Get out.
Eddie: Out of the kitchen?
Fiona: Out of the kitchen, out of the flat, out of London, out of the
world. It's full. Get out.
Eddie: I can't get out of the world. I didn't pull the kind of math
grades you need to qualify for the space program.

"Brimstone" (1998)
Angel: Oh, there's one more thing you should know. Your fate was never
determined until you killed Gilbert Jax. All in all, you've led a good
life, Ezekiel. Have faith. Your work's appreciated.

2 other discs were loose in the package, disc 2 season 4, and disc 2
season 5, but both played cleanly and looked unscratched, i have yet
to
have the time to watch the rest of the discs that were seated
properly,
though a thorough visual inspection showed no errors. in all, i got
seasons 3, 4 and 5.

any advice as to how to handle this/what to tell them is appreciated.
