Clinton officials protest ABC's 9/11 miniseries
ABC stands by 'dramatization,' despite demands not to air it
Bill
I remember the outrage from the right over the biased movie on Reagan
starring James Broland. A lot of people claimed censorship at attempts to
stop it from being broadcast. I also remember how many people defended
Oliver Stone after his reported highly fictionalized account of Nixon. I
thought that "Reagan" should have been shown on CBS at the time, so I
think
this should be too. <<
Putting aside the question of "biased" as to whether the content of either
of
those films was factually accurate or not, the difference is, this is a
highly volatile subject about an event that caused the immediate death of
thousands of people, and the subsequent death of many more thousands.
Did any factual inaccuracies in either of those films purport under the
guise of
fictional drama that real, living people who still work in public service
in
this country caused the death of thousands of people and horrific
suffering?
Your objections are (not to minimize them) judgments of whether it's in good
taste.
Of course it's not in good taste. Neither were the others, and neither will
the ones that will be made in the future. <<
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Nothing to do with taste, good, bad, or
indifferent. This has to do with a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,
and to present propaganda as fact. News, even.
It's also not in good taste to make a movie where GWB is killed byterrorists. It smacks of wishful thinking on the part of some. <<
I agree completely that the film in question is in horrific taste.
Good taste has seldom ever been a consideration of either Hollywood or TV.
You're upset by the treatment of a president that you liked. Fair enough.
So were many people that liked Reagan. Fair enough. Ultimately it's one of
those cases where you dislike someone else's right to free speech. <<
No. Wrong. I'm upset by the presentation of untruths as truths.
nextI won't watch this one. I didn't watch the others and I won't watch the
ones.
It's just one of those "Hold your nose" and keep walking kind of things. <<
I'll skip it, too.
(And it's "Brolin," incidentally.)
Correction noted and appreciated. <<
Or you could just call him Mr. Streisand. :-)
