If you remember James Tiptree Jr, you should read the biography that
just came out. If you have no idea who I'm talking about, you should
track down some of her stories and get acquainted.
She had a much more interesting life than I had imagined. This is a
very thoughtful, well researched piece of work. It's sad that sf has
pretty much devolved since Star Wars and sword and sorcery hit the
scene. A voice like Tiptree's is missed.
And, you get some Harlan thrown in, too.

I just finished listening to a phone interview with the book's author
(Julie Phillips) conducted by my local NPR station (WILL, Champaign -
Urbana, IL). Those interested can listen to it here:
http://www.will.uiuc.edu/am/focus/default.htm
(Look for the Thursday (8/31), 11:00 a.m. listing)
Since this is my first posting, moderation will likely push this to
where you'll need to go to the archives page:
http://www.will.uiuc.edu/am/focus/archives/index.htm
It will be listed as "August 28 thru Sept 1, 2006".
