B5 costume piece on eBay/consortium of buyers?

I'm sure some of you have seen the G'Kar facial prosthetic being auctioned on
eBay. I think this is the sixth or seventh time the seller has tried to get
rid of it (although he did wait until about six months after Andreas's death
this time). You can see the item here:

All the other times it's been up for auction, the seller had a starting bid
of $3000. This time he's starting at only $2000.

Every time I've seen this piece up for auction, I've had an idea that I sat
on too long to make it happen. But I've got five days left this time;
between that, and the price reduction, I've decided to give it a shot. It
also seems like it's more important now to give the piece a good home, what
with Andreas gone.

What I'd like to see happen is for a consortium of fans to get together, buy
this item, and donate it (either under all their names, or anonymously if any
contributor prefers) to the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle. At this
price, I'd be looking for 20 fans (19 plus me) to contribute somewhere
between $110 and $125 each (I want to allow a little extra for premium
postage+insurance from the seller to me, and premium postage+insurance from
me to the SF Museum).

I wouldn't place the bid until I had all of the money in hand in a PayPal
account, so here's what I'm asking: if anyone would like to do this, e-mail
me privately at the address above and let me know, as soon as possible.
Please don't e-mail me if you aren't sure, or if you'd like to do it but
don't have the money. The only people I want to hear from are people who
definitely can and will be able to immediately put $125 towards this effort.

As soon as I have the magic number (twenty -- or more would be fine, too,
because it would reduce the amount of the individual contributions required),
I'll e-mail everyone back and say "Okay, this plan is on: here is my PayPal
address." When the full amount necessary is in my PayPal account, I'll make
the bid. (Considering he's had the piece up for auction about six previous
times, I don't think I have to be sneaky and try and snipe in at the last
minute -- I'll just place the bid.)

Thanks for considering this, and I'll post an update as things start to
happen (or not).

Amy
