Yeah, there's apparently two different "takes" if you will in each
comic. One in ASM and one in the actual CW issue also...

Replying again to say: stories take twists like this for the same
reason there are "rubbernecking delays" on the highway - people like
to watch bad things happen to *other* people.
For example, one thing that makes very compelling drama (in any
medium) is taking a character, making the reader/viewer really care
about him, and then have some Really Bad Things happen to him/her.
Relevant examples: Garibaldi's brain scrambling, Sheridan's
"re-education" at the hands of Clark's people, Londo's keeper, G'Kar's
ordeals, and so forth
