Sorry, Rob. That's how *I* read it, too. I wasn't quite sure of a

Wow. Well, I apologize for writing so poorly that I misled so many.
Bear in mind, though, that taglines are sound-byteish by definition, and
I don't expect them to be taken seriously.
It stems, actually, from a conversation about gay marriage that I had
with one of my video-gamer buddies a couple of years ago, who was about
19. He laid out his case in favor of gay marriage, and ended it with a
"change for the sake of change" argument, something akin to Josh's last
paragraph in the post I responded to.
I hope that lays out the context. I remember writing about that
conversation, but I think it didn't make it into one of my final drafts.
Or something. <<
Rob, I do see what you're saying now, but I don't agree that Josh's statement
implied "change for the sake of change." Yes, change is coming, but not for
no reason: it's because the attitudes of the younger generation are a decided
shift from their elders. It's kind of like saying that people accepting
women in the workplace was "change for the sake of change." In my opinion,
it's that people smartened up and discarded outmoded and dubious moral codes.
Exactly. Codgers like me have to work to adapt, but kids make a fresh
start. From what I've read, kids are much more comfortable with
homosexuality than we were, and that comfort is reflected in their
beliefs regarding gay marriage.

"I love it when I'm around the country club, and I hear people talking about the debilitating
effects of a welfare society. At the same time, they leave their kids a lifetime and beyond
of food stamps. Instead of having a welfare officer, they have a trust officer. And instead
of food stamps, they have stocks and bonds."
