o, i c. Funny how I saw a jump point open on a tangent, but below
the corona. Your comments suggest they are opened on a radius. I
guess we should consider both ways and the likely results.
First the radial: The point would have to start outside the corona.
Any ship, or matter, would enter from the space outside of the corona.
So unless some small diameter, huge mass were pushed thru, not much
would go to hyperspace. The only way i can c might be to open a jump
point in the path of the sun as it drifts around the galaxy and suck
the sun in clump by clump. One challenge yet to overcome is that the
points seem to be 'fixed' in place once opened. (just ramblin here for
open discussion.) Speed is relative, so a point opened might be fixed
relative to the device that opens it, yet is still in motion at the
speed the solar system is moving with or thru the galaxy. I think the
sun and the jump point would then be moving at the same speed, and at 0
relative to each other. So there'd have to be a way to thrust the point
towards the sun. hmmmm

A similar problem exists even if the point is opened on a tangent.
The opening would have to be outside the corona, so nothing would
enter. There'd have to be a way to thrust the point part way into the
corona, or at least open it SO close to the sun that it draws it in.
Too bad they can't make the jump point rotate end over end ;-)

I hope these weren't serious comments.... ;-(
