OK, so sending the MiB's to his house won't work. But he'll have left
other traces. Even if he left *nothing*, just knowing that it can be done

duplicate the genius's warp drive--and failed. The problem, it turns
out, is that you need to be a superhuman genius to figure it out
(and possibly need to have psionic powers to operate the drive).

Which means that you need the exact right mind enhancing drug
cocktail that he was using. Good luck with that--this literally
mad genius was addicted to all sorts of homebrew concoctions.
Even if you could piece together some of the thousands of
formulas he had been working on, you'd have to guess which ones
he had been administering to his lab animals and which ones he
dared take himself. Bearing in mind that in the end, he was
on a psychotic high and may have been injecting candidate
formulas at random.

Besides, your plan only works for the guy's native country.
They'd naturally get to his house (what's left of it) first.
Everyone else would have to do it the harder way.

Spying on the native country and simply running research projects based on
public knowledge would still be vastly easier than sending a bunch of
people to Jupiter to salvage the ship.

Note that the warp drive isn't the big prize--the supergenius
drug cocktail is.
