Anyone have a quick back-of-the-envelope function for finding main

I don’t know why the previous post is missing the new content, but
I’ll try again.
The solution to the question I asked was so simple I felt pretty dumb
for not seeing it right away. The answer came to me in the shower. The
Initial Mass Function solved for Mass is:
m = -log a(n)
(Mass equals the negative log (base a) of n. Where, n is some number
from Zero to One and a is the constant you wish to use. (the Salpeter
number is 2.35))
You need to trim the results below 0.08 and above 200 solar masses,
but otherwise it gives a fairly good representation of star
populations. Certainly good enough for a game.
