Putting it in space just seems common sense from a safety standpoint.

the most solar energy?
Earth-Moon L1?
Earth-Sun L1?
Venus-Sun L1? (Assume using NVAs –Near Venus Asteroids for building
materials)
Mercury-Sun L1? (Assume using mining Mercury or NMAs for building
materials)
Some other location?
IIRC, most sf authors have selected Mercury orbit, not one of the Lagrange points. OSP doesn't generally have occultation problems other than twice a year. I doubt the solar L1 point would be particularly stable.
