Perhaps the exact opposite of camouflage. It makes it easier for
predators to spot the old members of the species, thus slightly
decreasing the chances of the younger, fertile members of the species
from being predated.

  Referring back to the thread title, the Silverback of a band of
gorillas is the last one you want to attack, and the first one to put
up a fight if you attack any other member.

This is probably a stupid question, but is silver hair in gorillas
their equivalent of graying hair? Silverbacks certainly aren't post-
reproductive, and you don't see any silverback females.
