Re: Life can eat ionizing radiation!

Does anyone know the process behind this? I.e., are we just dealing
with photosynthesis shifted towards the UV and gamma ray part of the
spectrum, or are these truly new chemical reactions? Also, "ionizing
radiation" covers a lot of ground; does this include alpha and beta
particles too?
