Tweaking a Lemur

I have a few moments whilke my daughter is sleeping and my wife is
out on errands. When I was my daughter down for her morning nap,
I ended up looking up at our map of the world in her room. While
playing with the continents in mock drifting, I remembered the recent
articles about birds colonizing mainlands from their island
evolutionary
homelands. It made me wonder about lemurs.

Lemurs are in something of a pickle these days because of habitat
destruction. If humanity was even wiped out, they'd /still/ be in
something of a pickle because of all the introduced alien species.

THe thought occurred to me though. What does a lemur need to
be able to compete? What does it need to be able to be
reintroduced to Africa, Asia or even North America and have a
fighting chance at surviving?

Does it need a mental enhancement? A few more points on the ole
intel dice role? Or does it need a digestive upgrade: what plants it
can eat and possibly even an upgrade to omnivoria?

Or is the lemur hopelessly doomed? I'd like to think it'd be possble
for some little trait tweak, natural or not, would allow a
recolonization
of the world's forests, possibly even nontropical ones, by lemurs.
The question just is...what would need to be done?
