One problem: If we ever get to the point of using lunar resources in
cislunar space, and using electromagnetic launch to lift them, L-2 is where
we'd like to place the catcher. A moonbase on the farside could just as
easily launch to L-1 (I think), but we'd prefer to put the base on the
nearside for ease of communication.
