Assuming the airlines treat you as a valued customer, would you

I believe all commercial jets *do* have floats for all the passengers
and crew.  Assuming the plane makes a soft landing on the ocean, like
that plane did in the Hudson, one should suffice to keep me alive
until rescue.

Has any such plane--big commercial passenger jet--after made a soft
landing on the ocean? Any ocean?

Check Wikipedia, "Water Landing". The short answer is: Yes, but not
very often.

Not clear that the answer is "yes," given how I specified the question.

Flight 1549 didn't land on the ocean but on a river, as did Garuda
Indonesia 421 and the TU124.

Tuninter 1153 had only 35 people aboard, seats only 74, and was a
turboprop not a jet.

Ethiopian Airlines 961 broke into three pieces and killed 125 out of 175
passenger and crew, so not a "soft landing."

ALM 980 looks to me like the only plausible candidate. 40 survivors, 23
dead. Depends on whether a DC9 counts as big--which I think depends on
whether your standards are current or as of 1970.
