That said, Keith's refusal to, as another poster said, join the

You and Peter must have been very popular in elementary school. No
doubt you two were the first to notice when another pupil wore unusual
clothes, had hair that was longer or shorter than yours, didn't follow
the most popular TV shows or sports, or didn't have the cool toys, and
one or both of you emphatically and repetitively pointed it out to
everyone who would listen.

It must be entertaining to tear down those strawmen, Keith. Why else
would you do it so often?

And things that are continually tedious tend to make people snap
every once and a while. Peter snapped at Keith. Maybe he shouldn't
have, but he's human and he did a human thing.

All I had said was:

Interesting. Is it accessible from far away by non-Interstate roads?
Or is it a place that can only legally be reached by motorists?

This is what set him off. That short paragraph is "continually
tedious,"

It is not THAT short paragraph and you damned well know it. It is the
constant litany of you noting that you can't do things on the Internet
that everyone else takes for granted.

but your

Excuse me?

*I* didn't jump your ass for asking that question. I have made no
comment specifically addressing it.

Yet again, you ascribe to me views I do not hold or actions I have not
taken.

I have only described your on-going general behavior and tried to
explain to Professor Friedman (and, by extension, you) *why* you get the
reaction you get. You've got to understand that this particular issue
sets people (because it is not just Peter and I who go off on you over
this) off periodically.

and Peter's unending reaction to it is not?

It's not even clear that any number maps or photographs *could* answer
the question. Someone familiar with that area could answer it, and
since AKICIF, I had hoped that perhaps someone would.

OBTW, to answer your question, since AFAICR no one has, Breezewood is
accessible via US-30 - which looks to be usable by non-motorists.

I've been through Breezewood a number of times - both in a POV and while
driving a Commercial Vehicle. I had thought that you could get there
from here, but I consulted a mapping site to doublecheck and provide
route designations.

Maybe it's time to retire "AKICIF." This newsgroup used to be a place
where if you asked a question, someone would very likely have an
answer. Now it's a place where if you ask a question, someone will
very likely flame you for asking it.

AKICIF is best used for things you cannot look up properly because you
have incomplete information - like a book plot, but nothing else.

No wonder so many people have unsubscribed.

Keith's petulant response, replete with spelling and grammar
(f)lames didn't help matters.

When someone implicitly holds himself out as a paragon of what 21st
Century Man (tm) can do on the Internet, he makes technical aspects of
his Internet postings fair game for criticism. His futuristic setup
evidently has no spell-checker. Mine does. Nor can he avoid mangling
the addresses of the people he quotes. I not only can and do, I
repair mangled addresses in my replies. Nor can he consistently
prevent his replies from consisting of alternating long and short
lines. I not only can and do, I fix the formatting of text that
I reply to.

So I don't think it would be an upgrade to replace my setup with
something like his.

As David Goldfarb points out, you do not have to give up any of the
advantages of your current method of doing things to gain the benefits
of the graphic WWW.

Nor do I think it petulant or lame to point out
that the emperor's new clothes are frayed and dirty, at least not when
the emperor is denouncing my well-maintained, warm, and durable,
albeit basic and perhaps unfashionable, raiment.

As usual, you miss the point and shoot the messenger.
