Software solution: http://www.matthewssoftware.com/AudioSyncer/

Many years ago, I built such a thing by stringing an audio tape
between two tape recorders/players. Anything recorded on one would
be played on the other half a second to several seconds later.

This wasn't for watching sports, but just for playing around with. I
hooked it up to my telephone so that in conversations with friends we
could get some idea what it was like talking to astronauts on the moon,
where there's a 2.5 second round-trip delay.

Playing with tape recorders was such fun. I figured out how to listen to the other side of a tape backwards and practiced pronouncing things backwards and reversing them. Of course I played with speeds. I also had two machines available to me, and multitracked myself singing a three-voice version of chopsticks (the usual version plus an obbligato we had sung in school some years back).
