Just as importantly, civilian GPS units refuse to work at supersonic
speeds, lest they be installed on missiles.

The actual restruction prohibits only the export of units
which will operate while above 60,000 feet AND over
515 m/s (1152 mph).

My little Garmin GPS III+ works just fine in the window of a
jet, and (with jet stream assist) above a ground speed of
Mach 1. Of course, I'm below the height limit.
