Actually, I reference my ideas of left to the global political
spectrum; the US center, even, is probably to right of the moderate
conservatives of Western Europe.
And how do you fit the population of India and China into this model?
It fits moderately well; at least as well as it can fit in a
third-world country. Leftist politics do well in many third-world
countries, apparently because they have real class systems still.
China, of course, is still nominally Communist, though in actuality
"state capitalism" is probably a more accurate description;
libertarian it is not.
