I'll adjust my memory accordingly.
A problem I've seen American tourists having in London is seeing a sign
to a subway and assuming it's an entrance to the tube. A subway in the
UK is a foot tunnel under a busy road. There's an exit to Waterloo
station that has a sign saying there's a subway to the South Bank arts
centre, and a couple of times I've helped out Americans there trying to
find the entrance to the tube. To get to this exit from any of the
mainline platforms would mean you'd actually passed the tube entrance
first.
There was a tube down there. We'd gone on it before. It was our intention to go see the British Museum and Library again, assuming I have the name of the institution correct.
