Why "corrupt" special interests in this case?

Well, for flavor mostly. And as an antonym to "libertarian".

Is it corruption to vote
in favor of politicians who do things the voter thinks benefit him? Is
it corruption for politicians to do things that get them votes?

I don't think it's corrupt to vote for something the voter thinks will
benefit him personally, and society in general, and make the world a
better place for everyone overall. Just mistaken, as likely as not.
But I do think it is corrupt to vote for something that will benefit
that voter, and screw everybody not like him. And many gradations
inbetween.

I don't think that's corrupt either. Voters don't take an oath to vote
in the public interest.

Don't you think that the economic distortions caused by having housing
costs, and the financing thereof over time, taxable to some people and
tax exempt to others, is detrimental overall?

I would think so.
