If I want 10% more space for 10% more money, can I get it?

Yes. That's why I fly Alaska Airlines in the US.

You can also get about 20% more space for 50% more money (it's called
business class). And 50% more space for 100%+ more money (it's called
first class). And 200% more space for about 4x the price (Virgin
Airlines sleeper class.) And 10x more space for ~30x the price. (I
know someone who works as a pilot for that service. It's used mainly
by second tier from the top executives and celebrities.)

You're a little out on these metrics.

Depending on the airline, business class is a lot more than 50% on top of
the economy fair for long haul - certainly looking at the routes I fly out
of Sea-Tac, BA business to London is between 400% and 1000% of the low end
economy return fare/full fares on both. The lowest I've managed to get a
Business Class ticket was 300% and that was rare.

This varies, but having been looking at flights to Japan recently, the
differential between Economy and Business Class on all the routes I could
find was at least 300% going up from there.

BA also run a sleeper service in Business but have an intermediate class
where you get 38" rather than 31", I normally fly this but its between 50% -
100% more money for, well, I suppose about 25% more space. That's pretty
much my experience acrosss the board there.

Virgin Upper Class has been around 400% of the cost of the economy option
when I've priced it, but it depends if you're comparing like with like, plus
the NY routes tend to have a lot more lower cost deals because of the
competition.

The best Business transatlantic fares are with the new Business Class only
airlines operating on the London-New York runs where it is about 50% more.

The problem I have now is that none of the US and Asian airlines operating
out of the US have a Premium Economy like BA, SAS, Virgin etc... so while I
can get away with a double airfare, I can't justify 4 or 5 times the cost.
So flying to Asia is a nightmare for me.

I flew a shade under 200,000 miles last year including one complete Round
the World ticket - I would say I am marginally obsessive about aircraft seat
configurations and pitches and, in general, Kip is right.
