I've noticed the same thing. I guess that's part of their genetic
programming.

Glowing makes them lighter!

We're not entirely devoid of them up here in Massachusetts, but I
miss seeing them as much as I used to in Virginia.

Yes, there are a lot here in Virginia. Walking in the dark in July,
I can see trees full of them a quarter mile away flickering like the
internal processing of some supercomputer or giant brain.

Ah, man, I miss the fireflies.
