Okay, so i found an interview on line with Cerf in which he tells the
whole sordid story.
I'd heard it as fact from my mother, who worked at several ad agencies
including McCann Erickson on down over the years to her own shop.
The thing is, it stacks up quite neatly and plausibly alongside Jerry
della Femina's "Rolls Royce clock" and "cheap scotch" stories (which i
have to assume are true until proven otherwise, since della Femina
said they were and i vassn't dere, Scharlie)...
