Today's APOD is of two black holes orbiting each other -- at a

The most remarkable thing is that they will eventually collide, in one
of the most energetic events that can happen -- more energy than every
star in a galaxy going supernova at once -- and that such an event has
absolutely no effect.
Well, I imagine the gas would cool down fairly fast afterwards, and
perhaps a lot of orbits would be affected.
Well, okay, it emits gravitational waves. But no light, sound, or
anything else. It's like piling up every H-bomb ever built, setting
them all of at once, and all that happens is they silently disappear.
Boojums?
Only less snarky.
