Then use your fine mind to generalize. Never mind, for the moment,
that one finger may mean something different in Swaziland. Do you know
of any casual hand gesture, motion, symbol or signal used by humans on
earth to signify such a sentiment as "Sorry your friend died"?
Depending on where you are:
-Patting a person on the shoulder or back of the shoulder.
-Placing the palm of your hand on the back of theirs, or patting it.
-A hug.
-A relaxed face with a tilt of the head.
-Lowering of the eyes.
-Holding your hands together in front of yourself.
-Taking your hat off, sometimes with holding it in front of you, or
specifically over your heart.
-Hugging yourself, with the hands grabbing the bicep area (sometimes a
sign of the person not being sure if hugging the other person is called
for).
-A hand shake that includes your other hand also holding the back of
their hand.
-Wearing colours considered solemn in the area.
