I hadn't thought of that way of looking at it.
But the "thousand words" thing isn't an equivalence, anyway. I
think the Chinese proverb version is "more than ten thousand
words," and I doubt that all texts of a thousand words can be
summed up in a picture.
Maybe it was just the exchange rate.
