Sure, but I think that's mostly because blogs are a relatively recent
phenomenon, while Usenet has been around for decades. I don't
disagree with your conclusion, but I don't think it follows from your
premises.

Personally, I read a number of blogs, but I post comments relatively
rarely, partly because of a feeling that blog comments are going to
vanish. (Many of them are probably permanently archived, but there's
no single interface to get to the archives, and it's generally not
worth the bother.) I *participate* in Usenet.
