Kstars seems quite easy to use. Don't know about windows ports
though being a linux user. There's also "open universe
simulator", "Celestia" and "Stellarium" available in the ubuntu
repositories.
Stellarium works fine in Windows, and is very pretty. It's author
uses it for professional stellar astronomy displays.
Get it free from www.stellarium - my husband did.
