But "prick" and "***" and "***" simply don't have the
same emotional power as "twat" and "***". [...]

This is very likely generally true, but it isn't true for
all individuals, and I suspect that there are more for whom
its truth is context-dependent.

This is... true but unhelpful.

There are times and places in which it is unhelpful or at
least unimportant compared with other things, but it *is*
part of the truth, and I think that simply dismissing it out
of hand as unhelpful is itself unhelpful.

I suspect that this is something on which we simply won't
agree, despite holding -- I think -- quite similar views
about what usages are appropriate in practice. I did feel
obliged to voice my opinion that the original statement was
insufficiently qualified, but I don't see anything to be
gained by pursuing the matter further.

Brian, I like and respect you. But in this time and place, you are
acting in a way which enables sexism and which is personally hurtful.

If you want to know why, I am willing to find and post links that might
help explain it.

If you prefer, as you imply, not to pursue the matter further, then
could you please not-pursue it with fewer words?
