Tell me that isn't an unprovoked attack Julian, fib if you must.

You have a posting history which is enormous over a brief period
and you use a pseudonym.

I use a number of pseudonyms in various newsgroups. I became familiar
with usenet in the days when not using a pseudonym was nearly unheard
of. I consider it a matter of prudence. I also consider publishing
under a pseudonym to be a matter of prudence. Your email shows you to
be in the UK, here in the states privacy is valuable and I wish to
keep what little I have.

"Enormous"? I only reply to posts that interest me. I've begun
relatively few new threads. Probably what you're seeing is a
combination of sleeping habits similar to those of a cat, and a lack
of obligations against my time. Once the weather improves, the amount
of time I'll be able to spend writing (books, posts, or other) will be
cut roughly in half.

You are prodding areas which
traditionally wind people up.

I'm not sure what you're referring to there. I think I've begun one
new thread in rasc. Beyond that I've responded to other current
postings where I either had a question or thought I might contribute
something. It isn't clear how that equates to "prodding".

At the same time we're getting
fly-by postings from Google.

I never post from google. I do not like google groups. I still hold
it against google that dejanews is gone, shame on me for not forgiving
them that one.

In the past this has been an
indication of a troll.

We could go on for ages about the definition of a troll, let's not
instead.

When you've been here long enough to prove me wrong, when
you've settled in as a valued member of society (which you are
already showing signs of doing) I will give you a complete and
absolute apology.

I don't think that is or will be necessary.

But please don't walk like a duck.

Mind you, I'm paranoid -- I always think they're Rosemary off the
medication.

I too am paranoid, it's only sensible because there really are people
who wish to get whoever can be gotten.
