In certain olden times, more vitamins & minerals were available than are
generally eaten now. Strongly flavored greens are now out of favor, but
they are (often) high in vitamins and minerals. Today young dandelions
and
the like are poisoned rather than eaten.

But those are available for only a small part of the year.

Depending on where you live, that can be a large part of the year; but, yes,
in hard winter one would have only cabbage & root crops. Now, the question
is are seasonal changes of diet good or bad for general human well-being--&
which humans & how long?
