business and characterisation and externalisation of emotion.
Why on earth would anyone want to treat them like motorbikes?
:-)
I wish I had a better understanding of castle floors.
Rushes should be great for fiddling with. Wax stains, food
stains,
Was that what Zeborah meant with the castle floors?
What you write has me think of a scene where a character looks at a
table- Oh, well, might as well quote it (first paragraph only for
context[*]):
---->
"Can you accept that I just can't talk about it any better, but that
there is no malice behind what I do? No matter what that is?" Ranes
asked.
No matter what that was? Was he asking for trust? Kaymen looked at
the table. There was no flaw to study in the polished stone. Maybe
she should add some. "I don't know." she replied.
<----
[*] I'm curious, though. How well could one guess at least the vague
direction of the preceeding question with just the second paragraph?
flagstones that have been replaced or need replacing. Stones that
move in their settings. Signs of old renovations: that's nice for
cluing age.
Cool. Eh, good idea.
Cleanliness or dirtiness as cues to the temperment of the owner or
staff.
Yep.
And don't forget animals. Everyone has rats, but are they timid or
bold?
Ore there aren't any rats.
Are there silverfish, too? I had a long conversation punctuated
with silverfish here at my University. (If you don't have these,
they're a small, silvery, flightless insect that runs around on
the floor.)
Only in wet environment, like the bathroom, over here (in Germany).
Even in otherwise clean and bugfree households. (My mother used to
have them. My own flat must be too dry. Or perhaps the spiders
extinguished them. <g>)
