What I would suggest is, after the alpha readers and a personal
reread after four weeks, that you post the first few chapters to Baen's
Bar Slushpile conference to see what they make of it (NOT Baens
Universe nor 1632 Slush). This is a conference for criticism only but
will give a second opinion, even if the result is silence.

Could you *please* set your newsreader to insert line breaks
every 60-70 characters or so? Thanks.

While we're creebing, could he please set his newsreader to post in
plain ASCII rather than base64 encoding? His posts turn up as
total gibberish here, I only get to see what he says when someone
else
quotes him.

Sorry, I have set my newreader back to the original.

I reset to base64 (and thus the line break I suppose) for all my posts
since the 29th May due to some issues with a example using quoted
printable that I wished to post as an attachment to a spamcop.net
(private news server) NG.

But I have been using only news.individual.net as do many others on
rasfc so the posts themselves should have been visible as usual.

As a matter of interest, what newsreader are you using ?

I was aware that some email clients and newsreaders can't handle line
breaks only at the end of paragraphs, but not that any couldn't handle
base64 and quoted printable.

Thanks for the heads up
