And that's where the #rasfc IRC channel comes in handy:
you can toss something in the air and see who catches it,
instead of carefully having to craft a newsgroup post and
hoping it won't turn into religion-bashing and/or US
politics.
We have very different concepts of Usenet: to me it's very
much a place for tossing something into the air. The only
group in which I almost always craft posts carefully is
alt.math.undergrad, where I'm generally answering questions.
Without actually going to the trouble of setting up to look
at #rasfc I can't be sure, but this post and observation of
rasfc over the last month and a half suggest that I was
right to suspect that quite a bit of what I like(d) about
rasfc would migrate out.
