Ah, in the area I used to live, they had an excellent bus system.
Then the state reneged on a commitment of $2 or $3 million, and they
had to cut services, and that sent the system into a death spiral.
Now the only people who use it are people who have no other
alternative, and that's a shame.

Taking the train to work takes me about 15 minutes, door-to-door.
Taking the car to work can take 10 minutes on a good day, but is far
more likely to take at least 30; and taking the car home, as I have to
deal with one of the real cluster@#$%s of Boston traffic, is likely to
take upwards of an hour and a half. But the train still gets me home
in 15 minutes.
If I didn't already have a car, I wouldn't buy one at this point.
