I'm perfectly willing to conceed that you may be correct about the
'most'. Especially if we are using it in the sense of 'more than half'.

Does that mean that those who wouldn't feel that way don't deserve some
kind of protection from that sort of situation? And does it *hurt* the
rest of them to recieve protection that they themselves don't need?

Because as long as you are helping some people avoid serious emotional
damage and in the process doing little or no damage to the rest, it
seems sensible to me to provide the protection.

To what extent that is also true when the teacher is male and the student
female I'm not sure, in part because I haven't been a teen-aged female.

I'm sure it would vary from teen-aged female to teen-aged female.
Most things do.
