If the student, patient, and parishioner are all mentally and

maybe that as a fellow student I might be concerned that the teacher
might artificially inflate their paramour's grades.
Part of what bothers me about the whole business is the scale of the
punishment. I can agree that there may often be something problematical
about an affair between a sixteen year old and a twenty-six year old,
depending on the people. But it isn't problematical the way rape is, and
it shouldn't be treated as a crime of anything close to the same
magnitude.
I'm also bothered by the way, when there is a story about a school
teacher in her twenties sleeping with one or more male students in his
teens, everyone goes on about her exploiting or abusing or something
him. I suspect that most teen aged boys would regard the opportunity to
sleep with an attractive woman in her twenties as a highly desirable
one--and if they did it would be unlikely to regret it, assuming no
legal consequences.
To what extent that is also true when the teacher is male and the
student female I'm not sure, in part because I haven't been a teen-aged
female.
