I'm not exactly sure what the perceived harm is. At 16 surely some
people are ready to have sex and some aren't. Teenage sex didn't damage
me that I can tell; in fact it was a net positive for me. If I'd gotten
pregnant or gotten a disease it would almost certainly have been a
different situation, but surely that would be traumatic for a large
number of people regardless of their age. I'm 30 and married, and
getting pregnant would be traumatic for me right now. At least I
wouldn't be living under my parents' roof and having a child wouldn't
socially stigmatize me ...

(I suppose my position on the availability of sex ed and
contraceptives to teens can be inferred ...)
