I haven't killfiled *you*. I have set two threads to Ignore and killfiled
six people, two of whom would have been in my killfile anyway even if
there weren't any politics threads.

But I think either someone should propose r.a.sf.politics (which I will
gladly vote for) to do this in, or everybody who wants to talk about
writing without fear that it will turn to politics should flee to
misc.writing.moderated, which is at least moderated. Of course, that's a
purely on-topic newsgroup and we'll be deprived of cats and chocolate,
but on the whole I think I'd prefer it. As it is, I'm refraining from
posting about writing because I don't want to be the one who starts a
thread that someone will turn into a politics/economics thread.

Why do you think I hardly post here any more? I discovered that even when I try to watch what I write, I can't guarantee to avoid saying something that will spark an argument of the type I find completely unhelpful to my writing and actually upsetting to my peace of mind. :(

It's not the topics, it's the mode of discourse -- but people have tried to explain this before and got nowhere. So I merely lurk and say nothing, which is sad because I have learned a lot here over the years.
