Re: Cloning ethics in science fiction - help?

My daughter has to do a report for school and has chosen cloning for
her subject. It's this dog-awful huge production with multi-media,
etc., Anyhow, I suggested she put up quotes from science fiction
about cloning showing a progression of how people have thought about
the issue over time instead of boring power-point graphs .

Off the top of my head I can think of two authors... Bujold, probably
the quote about cloning being the sin of vanity if I can find it back
(Mark talking to Ellie Quinn?)... and David Feintuch (dang, I google
and find out he's passed) because I seem to remember a quote about,
even though cloning is really really illegal that a child (the
clone) ought not be held accountable for the sins of his father.
Knowing which book to look in for that would be fabulous.

I know that a lot of books have clones as a central theme and that's
helpful. Passages to quote that directly address the ethics of
cloning humans would be perfect if I can find them.

I am helping her more with this than I am generally inclined to
do. We never did anything remotely like a researched presentation in
home school and her teacher this semester has been excessively
unhelpful (the project is year-long and actually spans both semesters
and involves multiple teachers... hopefully her spring humanities
teacher will be more inclined to offer direction... curse the ADD
paradox: the high levels of creativity associated with it do not
function well when left to be free-form creative.)

Suggestions of other resources or where to look for them will be
greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks for any help offered. I appreciate it.

You can probably get more answers in rec.arts.sf.written. But as a
start: John Varley's Eight Worlds series. David Brin, _Kiln People_.
Jack Vance's _To Live Forever_ is probably difficult to find.

Okay -- Googling on "clones" and "science fiction" brings up as the
first result:
CLONE page of ULTIMATE SCIENCE FICTION WEB GUIDE

With info from another result, I get this from the Internet Speculative
Fiction Data Base (http://isfdb.org):
* Legal Name: Kent, Steven L.
* Wikipedia Entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_L._Kent
* Webpage: http://www.sadsamspalace.com/index.html
Novels

* The Clone Republic (2006)
* Rogue Clone (2006)
* The Clone Alliance (2007)

Searching isfdb on title for "clone" in the title brings up a bunch.
Some are reviews or cover art.

Aldous Huxley, _Brave New World_. Ira Levin, _The Boys From Brazil_.
