Yes, yes, but that's nothing to do with *my* story. I know what she
sounds like, and that's it. I don't need to know who she's telling it to
or what her attitude is, because this is what she's saying, that's all.
And in any case, I'm nearing the end of the ms, it's due in October, and
even if someone comes up with a brilliant notion I am *not* going to throw
away sixteen-plus chapters and rewrite from scratch in order to change the
voice.

And sorry if that sounds overly cranky. It's early. And the key point, in
case you missed it, is IT'S DUE IN OCTOBER!!!!! At the end, fortunately,
but I'm well on my way to end-book-panic. Even hinting that a complete
rewrite could happen at this stage is *not* productive.
