Cause this isn't Star Wars...

In the Death Star we have umpteen zillion storm-troopers wandering about
carrying blasters.

But I was running a shoot-out in a space station scene in my head -- its
pretty close to the Death Star situation in some ways, so its probably
easiest to use that as our refrence point -- and I found myself
stuttering over the guns.

When I go to Wright Pat, the only folks I've seen armed are the guards
at the gate. Of course, my space station isn't inside friendly
territory, its out in the middle of nowhere, and they know there are
pirates around. But I don't think they are expecting any to be able to
sneak inside. They are expecting to be fighting *ships*.

So, what do you all think? Do the military personnel inside the station
carry sidearms? If they don't, what happens when they discover that
they have an intruder? Would they carry sidearms while on their ships?

Would the fact that this particular station was not built by the
military, but was merely conviently positioned and available for their
use make any difference?
