All the ones I've heard of so far arrived at the same solution: write
the outline _after_ the completed work.

Yeah, I did that. I'm sure I was working on some sort of mental
outline, but the idea of writing it down ahead of time was annoying.
One teacher I had to write the outline plus index cards with major
points. Ick.
