I like to save his imput for the line edit stage though.
My husband often reads my first draft as I write it - if he isn't too
busy.
I had huge problems when he didn't like one of my books as I rely on
his
interest to keep going. I did get the book finished, though it was more
difficult and I think I changed it a bit so that he liked it a bit
more: it was a shock when our tastes didn't agree. The other danger is
that I sometimes put stuff in that I know he'll like and he isn't
actually my audience.

Teri is my first defense line editor. She doesn't like first person though, so has had difficulties reading this one. She stoically refuses to line edit beyond the opening chapters, until I'm ready to send the remainder out.

For years I didn't have the confidence to let Brian read what I wrote and by the time I did I was quite disappointed because he just wasn't interested. He's never read anything I've written, published or unpublished. (He just says he doesn't have time for reading.)

My mum proofreads for me, but, bless her, she's 82 and SF isn't her thing so she never makes a qualitative comment.

I really do rely on the Recog crit group and pushing occasional stuff through Milford once a year.
