Um, what were we saying? Yes. Indeed. Ah, if you happen to know of a
mirror of about that age, I've more reason than one for being
interested.
Nope, sorry - can't help there. But couldn't you just posit
that such a mirror existed?
That'd feel too Snow White (for various reasons), whereas if there was a
real one I might be able to justify it to myself. But it doesn't
matter; this is just for the hypothetical sequel, which isn't solid
enough to start writing and may be impossible in any case.
Sounds interesting.
How will a Chalice of Truth cure somebody of insanity?
Make them see reality?
That's the general idea, yes. Things get ambiguous and complicated
fast.
Thought so.
Ambiguous because personal truth is relative?
That's a large part of it. Also, magic may or may not exist. But then
that's the same thing.
Another reason I like the setting is that it seems
to be refreshingly free of bearded, hairy, horned
giants of men, swinging axes in berserker rages
and otherwise living the life of the rover (pun
intended).
In case you didn't notice - I think Viking
analogues have been horribly overused.
Oh, no, I'm well beyond the Vikings. I've got runes and runestones --
mostly of the "So-and-so died here; he was the best of husbands; Ave
Maria" variety. But no giants or berserkers, and when they swing axes
it's to get firewood.
