which is why he had to die: I very much got the impression that Rowling
didn't have the skill to deal with him, so killing him was the easy way
out.
And I've never forgiven her.
While I just found him a useful plot tool, but clearly there to
BE disposable and set up some Harry Angst, because she needed to kill
SOMEONE near him to make things believable (Voldemort not being a nice
gentle man) and didn't at that point want to be killing vital
characters like Hagrid, Dumbledore, Ron, and Hermione.
