Just one comment. I'm carrying around three novel length manuscripts,
all my short stories, my English lit program files, which include a
lot of PDFs my teachers force me to print out each semester, and a
huge number of snippets in my 1 GB drive. I'm just at 10% used.
Unless you're carrying lots of graphics, games, or an entire library
of e-books, 1GB might be enough.
Unless one's coworkers have access to, say, episodes of Doctor Who
downloaded from the internet which one wants to transfer to one's own
laptop. One episode should fit on a 1GB drive, but for several at a
time something larger would be easier. Hypothetically speaking.
Anyway, my current USB drive is 64MB and when I use it I feel as if I'm
carrying around an old 5" floppy. I figure if I'm going to upgrade I'd
better upgrade to something fairly decent so it takes me at least, oh, a
year or two before I get that dinosaur feeling again.
