I know someone who was involved with a treatment facility for
people (mostly females) with eating disorders. The women lived
there during their treatment, and apparently magazines and
television were completely off-limits within the building.
And no handy bathroom scales, either, I trust; they're a gilt-edged
(guilt-edged?) invitation to start the downward spiral. I routinely
close my eyes and ask the nurse *not* to tell me my weight on my
rare visits to the doctor.
No doubt.
I hate regular scales, although I do like the one I have, which also
gives handy info like percentage of body fat and BMI. The only
benefit the raw "weight" statistic has is its ease of measurement.
(I'm not much of a fan of BMI, either, for the same reason).
